Emergency Response and Public Safety: Answering the Call…with GIS
Workshop date: March 8th, 2012 (12:00 to 4:15 pm) at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Red Deer
The AGG is pleased to host a half day workshop that will focus on the adoption of GIS technology and explore synergies between stakeholders involved in emergency situations. Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies are emerging in the areas of disaster detection, risk assessment, mitigation and prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. There is a continuing need to improve both efficiency and effectiveness in an era of scarce resources and rising public expectations surrounding Emergency Response and Public Safety.
The AGG has lined up four exciting presentations:
- Developing a GIS for the Sundre Petroleum Operators’ Group Emergency Response Plan (Abacus Datagraphics).
- Validating Emergency Response Plans Using Constructive Simulation and GIS Technology (C4i Consultants).
- Mapping Technology in the Disaster Response and Recovery of the Slave Lake Wildfires (Stantec).
- Using GIS Tools to Support Remote Emergency Response (STARS)
